Musicians Wanted Christian Rock / Worship Project
Performing for GOD! ARE YOU UP TO IT?  I am looking for talented, dedicated, honest and committed musicians with a Heart for God to form a Christian Rock/Worship Band.  Let's get some prerequisites out of the way first, then I'll tell you a bit about myself.  You may also want to visit my (ABOUT) page.
Musical Skills Needed For this Project …

Intermediate to Advanced Talent

I'm looking for good musicians plain and simple.   Musicians who can play in front of a small or a large audience.  Individuals who listen well, not only to what they are playing but to what others around them are playing, and can not only take visual cues but musical cues as well.  Do you pay attention, or do you get lost in the moment, or with your own playing?  I’m looking for … musicians who have a flare about them, yet at the same time are able to humble  themselves.   Psalm 33:3  Sing to him a new song; play skillfully,  and shout for joy.

Committment to Excellence

I'm looking for talented individuals that have that  built in meter and tempo that clicks in their head once they start a song.  It doesn't matter if you're a drummer or a guitar player you either have it or you don't.  Can you start a song at 120 beats per  minute, and end it at 120 beats per minute, or be  pretty darn close?  Or do you tend to rush and/or  drag things throughout a song?  Timing is important! I’m looking for seasoned players who are able to take constructive feedback.  Players who can keep their ego in check and do what’s best for the band.

Dedication and Patience

I'm looking for musicians who know when and when not to play.  Musicians with a sense of dynamics when it comes to a song and an arrangement.  Musicians who know that sometimes "Less Is More" Each individual should be able to learn the songs from chord charts, videos, CD’s, and all available resources.  A computer is almost a must these days with a good wide range speaker system to take full advantage of Youtube.  Obviously we will practice as a band, but one should come prepared knowing the songs.  Read More below …
Worship Music! If you are the type of musician that feels you have to always play busy, and/or always be playing something, than this is probably not the band for you.  I'm looking for players that will unite, compliment, and play to create a huge sonic landscape.  That takes teamwork where all the parts come together to create the whole.  If everyone is trying to be busy at their instrument you usually end up with a mess! There is a time and place for solos, flash, and some pizazz in a song if it calls for it.  But those things should be well thought out and crafted on a song by song basis. Worship music is about praising and honoring God.  Sometimes that is best achieved when things remain simple, that doesn't mean it has to be boring though.  As a matter of fact Christian Worship music can be very inspiring and uplifting.  It basically comes in two flavors, and that would be singing and playing songs to God and for Him, or singing and playing songs about Him. What it isn't for lack of a better term is (all out crazy).  Crazy like some rock songs we may have grown to like or played in the past.  No, sometimes the best songs are down to earth and simple with well thought out vocals and articulated fine crafted instrumentation. That being said, I'm also looking for the same musicians who may wish to be part of this endeavour, who are not against playing some none Christian music that could be relevant.  Good songs with a message.  Good songs of various genre's be it blues, folk, rock, and even new country.  Just because we're Christians it doesn't mean we don't have other musical tastes.  Being diverse and open will make one a better musician and appeal to a larger audience.  It’s about sharing and spreading the message.  It’s about letting people know the good news! The main focus at the onset though should and will be to learn and play several sets of Christian songs.  Once that is achieved, some original material should also be introduced into the mix.  It may be some of mine, it might be some of yours, and/or it could be a collaborative band effort. Please be sure to look over the entire site, as there is relevant information throughout which includes videos, music, cover songs, contact information etc.

Prerequisites

1)  You must be a Christian. 2)  You should be born again, or want to be. 3)  You should strive to seek Jesus, even when you fall or fail. 4)  You must understand that none of us are perfect, only Jesus was perfect. 5)  You must love God with all your heart. If you fall into the above category than please read on.

Goals Of This Project

1)  To create a Christian Rock Worship Band that will rise to great levels with inspirational music for the masses, but most of all to honor our Father God. 2)  To play Christian events throughout the region large and small. 3)  To rise to the level of an opening act for some of the professional Christian bands currently in the arena. 4)  With Gods grace become a headlining act ourselves in the arena. 5)  Record original songs and release a CD for radio, promotion, and sales. NOTE:  Should any cover songs appear on our CD it would be wise to do an original remake of the song(s) and obtain the necessary licenses for them to appear on the CD ...
I myself didn't always fall into the above category.  I've always believed in God and Jesus, but then so does the devil believe in them.  Yes, God and Jesus do exist.  I know now that Jesus was sent to this earth by God to die for my sins, and was resurrected from the grave.  I know now that without Jesus my life would mean nothing.  I know now that through Jesus I will have eternal life.  I may have been told these things when I was younger but I never gave then a lot of thought.  It wasn't until a few years ago after I was born again that the realization of it really sunk in.  I'm not perfect, and I still make mistakes but I know I have a savior in Jesus now, and I am saved.  My job is to seek Him, to always do better, and to tell others about Him. My musical background starts back when I was 13 years old, 1967-68 when I formed my first rock band on the South side of Chicago with some schoolmates.  I cut my teeth playing songs like Louie Louie, I Can't Get No Satisfaction and Sunshine Of Your Love. Now a semi-native of Colorado with numerous semi-professional rock bands behind me, I'm looking to put together a Christian band like none other. I say "none other" because of my background in rock music and my unorthodox approach at times with my personal songwriting when it comes to Christian music.  I believe the two genre's can be fused, more so than what we may currently hear in Contemporary Christian music.  Yet in some respects I believe it is good to stay true to the current Contemporary Christian scene also.  There's a fine balance as to what one should attempt and experiment with, and what one should leave as is.
Players Needed Eventually the lineup may look like the following list. Obviously this sort of assembly won’t happen overnight, and a core group might only come together.  And this is fine, after all Rome was not built in a day.  A strong foundation will attract other players down the road. I Samuel 16:17  "And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me."
1)  Drummer - Vocals are a plus! 2)  Bass Player - Vocals are a plus! 3)  2nd Acoustic Guitar Player - Vocals are a plus! 4)  1-2 Female Singers (Capable of both Lead and      Backing Vocals) - Instruments are a plus! 5)  Electric Lead/Rhythm Guitarist - Vocals are a plus! 6)  Keyboard/Piano/Synthesizer Player - Vocals are a plus!      Note:  I'm not looking for three individual keyboard players.        Just one player who is well versed in piano, synthesizer, organ etc. 7)  Percussionist - Congas/Kettle Drums/and all things      that make noise! - Vocals are a plus! 8)  Violinist/Cello - Vocals are a plus! Note: On vocals I list it as a plus for any member.  Some people just don't sing so don't let that alone detour you if you're not a singer.  If you play your chosen instrument well, that is what matters the most.  If you don't consider yourself a singer but can do back up vocals from time to time that will work too.  Just as long as you're not pitchy. If you have the talent, songwriting skills, dedication, drive, committment and a willingness to work hard to be your best than you are someone I would like to talk with and welcome aboard this journey. On the other hand if you have any doubt in your mind that it might be to much of a task to take on, or you don't have the time to fully committ yourself to the project than let's save one another from wasting each others time.
